Most of the Vilas, Palazzos and Palaces of the imperial glory were furnished with commissioned work. That tradition seems to have been replaced with designers traveling the globe searching for the right pieces from antiquaries rather than commissioning pieces. One explanation for it, besides the "crave for patinas," is finding the artisans and craftsmen for the job.
In wood-carved furnishing, MICE, an Italian company founded in 1963 produces documented masterpieces, which are some of the most sought after for Vilas, Palazzos or Palaces.
